TOKYO, November 5 – RIA Novosti. Experts from the Institute for Earthquake Research at the University of Tokyo announced the formation of a new island with a diameter of about 100 meters as a result of the eruption of an underwater volcano near the Japanese island of Io.
During aerial observations carried out on October 30, the eruption of an underwater volcano in the area of ​​the island of Io was confirmed. Experts believe that during the eruption, when magma entered the ocean waters, a so-called phreatomagmatic explosion occurred, during which huge stones were thrown out from under the water.
