I lived a good amount of my life in Mexico and traveled a lot within it as well but haven't really thought about this too deeply. Something that is clear is the pure lack of banking infrastructure in general. A lot of people pay everything in cash, from utility bills to property taxes. Social class has a to do with it.

Taxes have a lot to do with it and there are no limits as to where you can use cash. As I'm casting this a lot of more questions related to the topic come to mind... Once onboarding is right, Mexico will adopt faster than others, I think.
