🗑 Bitcoin scavenger fails again — 8,000 BTC remain in landfill

British James Howells, who lost a hard drive with 8,000 BTC (more than $640 million), lost his appeal against the city of Newport again. The court rejected his claim, not allowing excavations to begin at the landfill.

🔹 Howells claims that this is a violation of his property rights and is now going to go further — to the European Court of Human Rights.

The story dates back to 2013, when a hard drive with bitcoins accidentally ended up in a city landfill. Since then, the authorities have refused to allow searches, fearing environmental and legal consequences.

💭 I can’t shake the thought: what if the hard drive is still intact and waiting for its time? Or has it been lying under tons of garbage for eternity…
