The name is an abbreviation of Roy Hargrove, and it is also a pun on the precious blood type RH negative blood in blood type theory. The band's style can be described as progressive jazz, covering a variety of black music elements including Soul, Jazz, R&B, Funk and Hiphop. "Hard Groove" is an important album of The RH Factor, released in 2003. This album shows the band's innovation and diversity in music, combining traditional jazz elements with modern Funk, Soul and R&B styles to create a unique "hard groove" feeling. The members of the album include some musicians who are already very famous in their respective fields. Their cooperation brings rich musical layers and depth to the album.
