On point. Just a note on Cypherpunk. True that it had “broader techno-libertarian ethos” but this description minimizes the contribution of the then-radical left, which I’d argue is a pattern that can be connected to why the current broad left don’t see themselves aligned with this movement.

Anarchist, socialist, even communist ideas are hard coded in Cypherpunk. We need look no further than the woman who coined the term itself: Jude Milhon, active in civil rights, feminism, radical health care,  supportive of New Left ideals, and lived communally.

Great read. Just advocating for a more inclusive narrative that reflects who really helped shape the ethos and adds nuance to the distortion that this shit was birthed by a bunch of libertarian bros.

This comment on vitalik’s post today is something i’ve been thinking for a while. we have a lot of work to do to shape language on the narrative and intentions of this space
