Alternative take - what he’s saying is true but lacks the context that it’s not ruined it’s just in its awkward in between phase. Like a teenager going through puberty, Austin has growing pains and an identity crisis The old culture definitely exists in places but is being pushed out. Times change!

Folks have been saying that the new folks moving into Austin are ruining it for as long as I've been alive. You see it every five years. The number of people in Austin that are actually natives dwindles each year, but everyone and their mother has an opinion about how Austin is getting worse.
