Too simplistic to see this in terms of capitalism vs. Socialism. Italy, Spain and Poland are all European style social democracies. I think we may have to look at monetary policy and labor markets to explain Poland’s rise and Spain/Italy’s stagnation. We have to look at recent economic history too. Italy and Spain have not completely recovered from the 2010-12 debt crisis. Poland also did not have a recession during the financial crisis.
