Started using Taskfiles (instead of GNU Makefiles) and thought it’d be worth sharing with the group. They simplify automation with a clean, and to-do list-like syntax. I became a big fan! https://taskfile.dev/

Tacit knowledge is hard to quantify. I believe that our identity is deeply shaped by our parents, who, in turn, are influenced by their own parents. There‘s a large amount of tacit knowledge that is transferred from one generation to the other whether we‘re aware of it or not.

For service monitoring, I’m a fan of the Victoria metrics k8s stack: https://github.com/VictoriaMetrics/helm-charts/blob/master/charts/victoria-metrics-k8s-stack/README.md Once deployed, it’s quite straightforward to provision scraping rules for Prometheus metrics endpoints, alert rules and Grafana dashboards.

I had some good experience with https://github.com/fal-ai/dbt-fal. It supported more querying engines than the official dbt project when I tested it. SQL + dbt tests can produce robust base, stage and mart tables. For anything that pushes the limits of SQL, Python is the go-to-choice obviously.
