A small reflection that has been on my mind for a while. I had been thinking for some time that the dominance of certain companies over our world was bringing us closer to the power structure of the Middle Ages, with central entities less powerful than some private entities. I came across a book that went in this direction: “Yanis Varoufakis: Technofeudalism: What Killed Capitalism.” Today, while listening to a podcast about art in the Middle Ages, I learned that there was a particular trend towards anonymity and community rather than the cult of the genius artist, which has developed since the Renaissance. For example, we know very few names of the artists who built the cathedrals. If we move towards a medieval-like societal system, will we also see a similar evolution for artists? Perhaps artificial intelligence will be a kind of condenser of our artistic creations that will no longer be attributed to anyone, as an artistic process cannot be legally protected.
