My husband comes from a large family. It was their custom: they prepared the food, whoever wanted to eat ate, whoever didn't want to, ate later. No one gathered at one table, someone could go to another room to eat. Nobody waited for anybody. I have it the other way around. Everyone sat down at the table, you can't eat until everyone else sits down. I'm out for a walk, they don't eat until I come back. They sit and wait. And they didn't cook until I got home. I had to call when I got home so they'd start cooking. I adjusted to my parents and felt guilty when they waited for me. So I went out very rarely.....
