In Brazilian art schools, we have an art class named 'expografia' for planning and execution of an exhibition, including order and placement of artworks, light design, materials, etc. 

I guess the common term in English is 'Exhibition design' but not sure. I think that a direct translation doesn't exist, does it?

What is it called over there? Is it just exhibition design?

An extremely important course which could be framed within other  final courses. Great professors take the time to teach this in their specific fields as well - some early on, even in photo 101 and so on.
