I used Claude today to write me some Google Apps Script to go through an email inbox and find all replies to an autoresponder, and save each one to a Google Sheet. Then, using Gemini 1.5 Pro (chosen for it's huge context window), I was able to load in that sheet straight from Google Drive and analyze the content of all the emails (how many times was X mentioned, other types of semantic analysis on the whole DB) :)

Can one be physically addicted to work? During a recent 1-wk vacation to a wonderful, my body felt very "off" for a most of the time. Now back to intense working, I feel physically great. Has my body formed hormonal rhythms that are optimized around working intense, long hours? And upon deviations...withdrawals??

if you’re a tech type person and are looking for a side quest may I suggest picking up drawing. it’s a skill that anybody can learn and what it really is is learning how to see. costs nothing, can do it anywhere and if you peck away at it diligently you can be better than 99.9% of the world in about a year. rewires your brain in unexpected ways.

I really enjoy posting. At this point it’s as natural as breathing. I don’t mind using Warpcast and actually enjoy it because casting isn’t a chore it’s just an extension of my mental activity that I’ve already become accustomed to over well over a decade. Warpcast just needs to find more natural posters who similarly enjoy it as a recreation.

Highly recommend taking a caffeine fast (7+ days off caffeine) every once in a while It will re-regulate your adenosine systems. Adenosine is under-discussed, but it’s basically the relaxation neurotransmitter Caffeine withdrawals are a bitch, but it’s worth the reduced anxiety, muscular tension, and improved sleep

One week in and having trouble coming to terms with how much of an adjustment it has been going from one kid to two. My wife and I always swore we wouldn’t let having kids stop us from enjoying our favorite pastimes (like recreational sports, hiking, camping, etc) and tbh we’ve lived up to that pretty well since having our first. But the toddler plus a newborn is just a lot, I find myself wondering how people have more than 2 (or how single parents survive at all.) Tried going to a soccer game yesterday and it was so hard on my wife with me just being gone for 2 hours that I’ve opted out the rest of the season for my other soccer and volleyball teams. I know we’ll get into a flow state eventually and of course it’s all 100% worth it, but I really underestimated the adjustment for sure! (Obvious caveat that I love both my boys and wouldn’t change anything for the world. )
