This is great advice, but calling it “vibe coding” already diminishes the effort new coders are putting in. Instead of focusing on what they’ve built, snobs are dismissing their work outright instead of appreciating their curiosity and progress

I can agree with that. It does make it more friendly. And I’m def not anti-AI but I pay close attention to how narratives are built up and who stands to benefit the most

I personally really like vibe coding as a term, it's playful. It demystifies the act of instructing a computer to do predictable routines. And maybe I'm optimistic but I never found it used in a derogatory way, unless mentioned by folks who are generally anti-AI to which I think that's a totally different issue!

I don’t think we need this term. It was pushed on us by ppl with stakes in LLM companies who just want to sell more subscriptions. It’s also being used to downplay the value of programming, giving snobs and big tech an excuse to cut more jobs or squeeze more out of workers.  

You could also argue that programmers have been vibe coding long before ChatGPT. How many were actually writing completely original code for every project? Prob not many, but back then, it wasn’t as out in the open

I think the "snobs" might be guilty of that (I know I have been), but I don't think it completely diminishes the term. I know plenty of people who own the term vibe coding and enjoy using it. I think it's primarily the perspective of the senior crowd that needs to change, and that has to come from them.
