spotify sounds very poor compared to apple music lossless or even youtube hd. you can compare yourself and hear the difference. they lowered the quality substantially a few years ago, before teasing their hi fi product which i believe they never shipped.

Bloomberg article concludes with "now they must figure out how to make even more money from loyal customers without alienating them", so if super high-quality audio is a big deal for people, then offering it seems like a no-brainer. But not having hifi is not making me want to leave Spotify for the other guys.
