Every time a spam account slips through Warpcast’s filters and hits my notifications, it’s a reminder that algorithms won’t solve this problem, especially not for a permissionless protocol that is hoping to scale

I don’t have all the answers, but I think web proofs could be a solid starting point, and we should handle it at the protocol level. When people join, they should have the option to prove things about themselves and earn badges. This wouldn’t be mandatory. Developers could then use these badges to create all kinds of experiences, think of them like FID lists or starter packs. Im not talking about basic social attestations like FIP-19. Verifying that you have a GitHub or Twitter account doesn’t say much about you unless we dig deeper, like looking at your commits, the content of your tweets, or your social graph (followers/following). Onchain data would also be interesting to explore for proofs. Im also curious about social signaling, such as who vouches for you as an expert or someone who has done a certain proof of work https://github.com/farcasterxyz/protocol/discussions/199
