doesn't answer the question but pretty much I keep circling back to "People in power don't like changes to how to get there" It's my default answer to all sorts of questions - Why not making voting more representative? - Why not vote for ideas instead of people? - Why not have more transparent [voting|spending|lobbying] - Why not have doers/builders as politicians instead of talkers? - Why disqualify purple cats in gentleman tophats?

I've thought about these questions a lot... and I think part of the problem is there is just so much information... I can't be an expert on healthcare and infrastructure and foreign affairs and climate... so ideally I'd get representatives who organize the doers. I really like the concept of voting for ideas, but I'm just not sure enough people who understand the complexities/nuances of what they'd be voting for.
