Did you know that the Milky Way is on a cosmic collision course? Our galaxy is set to collide with the Andromeda Galaxy in about 4.5 billion years! While this sounds catastrophic, there's no need to panic. The vast distances between stars mean that direct collisions are unlikely. Instead, the two galaxies will gradually merge into a new, larger galaxy, sometimes referred to as "Milkomeda." It's a reminder of the dynamic and ever-changing nature of the universe. Imagine the night sky from a future Earth-like planet in this new galaxy—what a view that would be! As we look up at the stars tonight, we're witnessing the calm before a cosmic dance billions of years in the making.
