Ethereum has executed its rollup centric roadmap but that also impacted ETH’s value accrual. Previously it was dominant in volume and fees but since 4844 both have trended down and ETH has re-priced. Long term, L1+L2 activity does need to increase by orders of magnitude for the network to remain competitive.

as a former employee, I can say these reviews were essential to track actions and hold owners accountable. problem is there were too many metrics being measured which clouded critical problems and diluted the focus towards solving them. Expectation: Just improve 1% daily and within a year you’ll be 37 times better than when you started. Reality: Unquantifiable and unobservable improvement day to day as you stumble into hurdles and realise that everything you learn only amounts to a drop in the ocean.

penning your thoughts is so important even if it’s incomplete or incoherent. novel ideas don’t come forcibly so when you get light bulbs it should be captured in its raw form. channeled reflections + actions after is what creates the final diamond.

I’d think general purpose L2s wouldn’t increase in the long term. I see regular users converging in L2s with a moat such as high throughput (MegaETH) or easy onboarding (Base). That said, web2 businesses & apps will have clear incentives to want to connect to Ethereum L1 liquidity so app-chains will rise.

DeFi narrative has been underrated so far. Fee switch and yield bearing protocols should ignite DeFi summer 2.0. Especially with incoming tradfi inflows, on chain yield should be what captures most of their attention.
