I find myself listening to a lot of stations in remote areas — where radio is still a HUGE connector for folks

Yeah, it’s pretty wild. 

There’s a NPR station in northern Alaska that serves as their primary news source. Within the same show, you can hear about the ongoing conflict in Gaza followed by a story about Becky, who sells blueberry muffins at the corner market.

agreed, everyone should know about it! 

side note - when i worked in terrestrial radio, i was shocked to learn how many people rely on public radio, even in the states. the stats were soooo high for people who don't have access to internet radio / dsp's.
