Enough
Enough should be a human right,
The gentle hum of a world
Where scarcity is a shadow
And abundance is a myth.
A floor beneath every foot,
Soft but firm, holding each step steady,
So no one tumbles into the chasm of need.
Enough is a quiet song,
A lullaby for the weary,
A space where breath is not a luxury,
But a given, a promise.
Enough, a ceiling for the insatiable,
For the hunger that gnaws at more,
And more, and more,
A hand raised in calm refusalβ
This far, and no farther.
Enough is not the banquet that blinds,
Not the feast that feeds the glutton,
But the simple bowl, the still cup,
The clarity of sufficiency,
The grace of having just what is needed,
No less, no more.
Enough is not a plea,
But a right.
Not a concession,
But a creed.
Let Enough be our home,
Our common ground and common sky,
A place to rest,
A place to rise,
And in its quiet equilibrium,
Let us be whole.
