The Roman Empire's influence is everywhere in our modern world - from our legal systems to architecture and government structure. Take the US Senate for example - directly inspired by Rome's political institutions. Even the way we build roads and aqueducts today follows Roman engineering principles. But what really fascinates me is how their collapse offers lessons for today. Economic inequality, political corruption, and overextension of military power - sound familiar? History doesn't repeat, but it sure does rhyme. I spend a lot of time studying these parallels. The more you look, the more you see how deeply the past shapes our present.
