if you’re on L1 Ethereum and want to bridge to an L2 it’s cheapest for you to send your ETH to a CEX then use direct CEX <> L2 

this lets you avoid ETH gas fees

How do you choose what chain you want to send ETH to from the main Coinbase app? 

I don’t see there’s any way to change it from mainnet
