It's pretty great from a pure UX/UI standpoint 

The lack of e2e isn't ideal but it's the best messaging app in terms of features and functionality imo

I think it's also easier to launch bots/apps. Whatsapp seems to have more verifications required before launching.

Why do I need to figure out how to make folders in order to see my new messages in one place? 

It’s very customizable but hard to use out of box.
