I tend to agree. I hesitate sometimes to tell the average person about crypto bc of all the baggage that comes with it.

Crypto needs more taste and thoughtfulness around messaging and culture.

When I hesitate to tell my normie friends about crypto, they sometimes think I’m trying to gatekeep.

i think what @0xysad is saying is when you’re selective about talking crypto with people (in this case, to avoid overwhelming them) it can be misunderstood as you trying to keep the knowledge or access to yourself, which feels like gatekeeping to them.

it’s quite common i believe.
