i get this but i also think that if you’re active then you’re less likely to be left out of the tipping fun 

people’s contributions and thoughts are certainly more important than $1 but i like the social aspect of sharing the love with tips even if it’s small

find a unique way for people to show appreciation for others that:
has some meaningful value 
BUT 
little enough that ppl willingly do it
AND
doesn’t make convos inherently transactional 
OR
encourage ppl to game the system
