As a founder, I think I'd want my VC to be more of a venture investor than a token investor.  Tokens can create diverging alignment between investor and founder in some cases

Sure but more liquidity options usually means more chances at diverging interests and diverging alignment

I think of tokens as an investment in the protocol and equity as an investment in the team. I think both are important.
