A court has dismissed a lawsuit by James Howells, who has been trying to get city council permission to dig up a landfill for about 12 years. The hard drive was thrown into the landfill in 2013 - it holds 8,000 BTC mined back in 2009. They are now valued at over $770 million. The engineer offered the city administration a 10% share if his bitcoins were found. However, his requests to find the lost drive have been repeatedly rejected because of the possible environmental damage that could be caused by excavating more than 110,000 tons of trash.

It’s crazy to think how one small mistake can cost $770M. While his determination is impressive, the environmental risks make the council’s stance understandable. Tough situation all around. 200 $DEGEN
