So anyone can mint anything I post? That can’t be right?

they could anyway (download and mint) but we're experimenting with making the most convenient way to do so, one where you get paid. the reasoning is that, as a creator, when you create something of value, you should "mint first, then distribute." you might post and then think, damn i should mint that, and now you can!

Sure, people can steal our work. Thats the danger of sharing our art but you thinking this is ok and creating a tool to do it is not ok. What if the work has already been minted and sold as a 1/1? What if the artist has plans for these pieces? They belong to us and no one else. Are you an artist?

also, it's not about anyone claiming the original, or trying to impersonate the artist. it's all done completely transparently, and the original creator is the one getting paid. think of it more like "sharing onchain" so that more people can see it and contribute $ to the artist.

if i copy your art and post somewhere social media and credit you, is that stealing? what if then, the big tech social media company, who own the platform, monetise your work by selling ads against it? shouldn't you be the one getting paid? it's an experiment in deepening value exchange. not the same as "minted by you"

this is only part of the topic. yes we should get paid AND artists should retain power of when, how their art is minted in their name. i use the blockchain as a sketchbook and as a timeline, i’m telling my story. i do not want others to dictate how and when my art is inscribed there.
