I had a lot of childhood fears. Only excruciating ones, not just any kind of fright. Really excruciating ones. I thought, "This is not what it seems," and I suffered.

At some point, I realized that just beneath the surface of the outer world, there was another world, and if you dug deeper, new worlds would appear. I knew this as a child, but I couldn't prove it. It was just a feeling. There is grace in the blue sky and flowers, but another force - wild pain and decay - is equally contained everywhere.

And I'm not the only one who feels this. People feel that outside the house - and, unfortunately, in most cases even inside - there are problems accumulating that they will have to deal with. And self-deception will not help here.
