After a 25-year career in design, @rainisto transitioned to focusing on photography and art. He has always been fascinated by how technology can boost creativity. When generative AI became accessible, he dedicated himself to exploring its potential in his work.

The spark to add Web3 components came after someone impersonated him, stealing and selling his art. Creating his official Web3 identity made him realize the potential of the space, offering opportunities that the traditional art world couldn’t.

‘LIFE IN WEST AMERICA,’ an NFT collection created in 2023, was a game changer for him. This experience led to two main developments: technical skill and artistic understanding. The larger evolution comes from a deeper awareness of art itself: what is art, and what makes it good?

His latest series, “Vacation,” uses AI as a tool, ensuring the AI’s presence in each piece. Emotions guide its development, with the emotional impact of a piece being the ultimate test, surpassing technical perfection.

This series also embraces its digital roots, showcasing the artificiality of the medium. He believes preserving AI’s unique visual elements gives the art its distinct flavor, much like the appeal of vintage cameras in photography.

Roope views “post-photography” as exploring what happens when photos are seen as just images, not reality, shifting the artist’s role from producer to giver of meaning. He has always questioned “truth” in photography, believing generative AI can enhance critical thinking.
