...to offer the sea a part of the world, of what once was his world before you yourself became part of it. And for the sea, from the other side, to offer you another piece of the world, bearing ancestral symbols that could be read, here or there, in the language of the shores. Shores that have never felt like borders, and so are always blurring the maps with their ebb and flow, with their coming and going (…) without needing to know what need not be known in order to understand that we are all made of the same: water, salt, and a small handful of silver gelatin.
