animated pfps have really low utility but a big group of users love them.

our approach was to sunset them at some point (mistake!), but wanted to get input.

static pfps are less relevant today because of the feed aesthetics, while animated boost your casts and brings a better version of yourself.

They are an aesthetic thing but this is mostly an aesthetic place. We scroll here all day looking for good content to read and nice images to see.

Nothing looks nicer than a clean animated pfp. Brings joy to the soul. Breaks up the scrolling a bit
