i noticed that ever since my groupchat push notifications started saying "30+ new messages in XYZ groupchat," i stopped clicking through to check the groupchat due to (i think) the mental barrier to reasonably catch up on everything. just me?

Definitely not just you. Everyone hates their inbox. We should have the ability to turn off indications for each.
