For the last few years, I’ve hovered around 8:00/mi, but struggled with injuries. Made the decision to ignore time and try to correct my form. Im using the Garmin cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time metrics as north stars. Also shifting to landing mid foot. Winning for me is injury-free running.

It is similar to what i've learned in martial arts training: slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Also I've vastly corrected my form (esp landing) when I switched to barefoot shoe (I use Atreyu) - little to no room for bad form (your feet will hurt!).

Thanks for the rec, haven't heard of Atreyu. Which model to you use? And what was the transition like to running in a barefoot shoe? I'm definitely interested in whatever helps. Been running for a while and have built up too many bad habits to count πŸ˜„

I currently have the Base 2 model (https://atreyu.com/collections/outlet/products/the-base-model-v2-0), had the Base 1 earlier. Transition was easy, your feet will quickly talk to you when you're landing hard!

This is probably what I need. Have always gone for the heavily cushioned shows like Hoka which has probably masked so many issues. Make that feedback loop quicker πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
