Horseshoe Bend is one of those places i wish i visited in the pre-IG era. the combo of being easily accessible and highly gram-able makes it a very popular spot for visitors (read: over-crowded, noisy, and honestly pretty dangerous scene). we visited before they built a designated viewing platform and railings, and it felt like pure chaos. droves of tourists piled in on buses, shoving their way to any vacant piece of real estate they could find to 'get the shot.' i was fully expecting someone to slip to their death while we were there, and in fact someone did a few days after our visit. loud convos, influencer vids, people facetiming, selfie sticks and vlogs were rampant.  most people appeared to be checking a box v. really experiencing it: - horseshoe bend ✅ no judgement on my part, it's just not my journey. things i treasure in nature are tranquility, solace,  stillness.  i give it 5/10. easy enough to swing by on a road trip through the Grand Canyon area, but wouldn't go out of your way.

I have been to that exact spot two times in the past few years. The amount of people trying for the "perfect selfie" has exploded. Was only a matter of time. Sad.

did you go back because it's nearby or did you enjoy it that much?

Haha no my first visit was with my parents, and we enjoyed it. The second time, I went with my best friend since it was on her wish list and she’d been talking about it for years, so I felt a bit obligated to join her. Honestly, it wasn’t as nice, too many tourists and TikTokers made it feel overcrowded.

same tbh. it is a pretty cool spot if it weren’t so over run.
