Crypto startups don’t always need tokens, but investors often push for them as a fundraising tool, which can mess with priorities. Forcing detailed tokenomics at the seed stage before finding product-market fit is a tall order. Those models should evolve with user feedback, not be locked in too early. When everything’s tokenized, there’s a risk of building products around the token instead of solving real problems, leading to weak market fit. Plus, it fuels a cycle where investors chase quick liquidity over sustainable tech, flooding the space with overhyped projects that crash once the hype fades. And we’ve already seen too many failures this cycle proof that the token first approach often backfires.
