a little late to this but do tips come out of your own balance? ie if i tip 1000 then my degen balance will be -1000 less?

No, you get a daily allotment if you meet the requirements specifically meant for tipping anyone else, it is gifted for you to tip Doesn’t count anything toward your holdings
