I think what people hated was that they openly violated the license of the repo that they forked from and raised money off.

The outrage started before people realized this

If you read the post or watch the youtube video it is almost like they accidentally optimized for the internet piling on them with hate

Guess they a little fit too perfectly into the “VC-funded SaaS React AI tech bro YouTube influencer” archetype. It’s a tough time to take on that kind of persona these days 😅
