The original decision to separate client and protocol names was made to encourage client devs to build on the protocol. 

We are less convinced that its important today. The main reason client devs cite is lack of users, and the diluted branding seems to be affecting our ability to bring new users into the ecosystem.

warpcast as the main client is adding features rapidly, like frames v1, v2, and warplet. docs/apis tend to lag as a result. it’s extremely hard for a third party to ship a fully functional client and keep up. other than a feature-focused client, i see no reason to use anything but warpcast.
