This is actually consistent my experience as a user, enthusiast, app developer, and participant in language/devtooling design: I feel like most hard forks don't end up with something that benefits me

At best the changes feel like they are maintaining ideological properties (possible for hobbyists to run nodes, small validators to participate, etc), which are good properties to maintain (if only they feel a little remote from my real concerns)
