I have an STL file of this ceramic keepsake made from the paw print of our family dog, who passed away earlier in the year. I want to: - fill in the hole (top center, it's on the original to hang it like a ornament) - produce a high resolution replica out of a precious metal What steps do I take? More info ๐

So far I've tried to have the STL converted to other file types, but no luck there The recommendation so far has been to convert the file into a 3D printable type, print a replica, make a mold from that, and then use the mold to produce the output. Idk the right file types or if a 3D print could maintain resolution

I do have the original so if there is a different type of file to generate from a scan that is more useful, that can probably happen Let me know your thoughts on best next steps - I'll update here as I learn and progress ๐ ๏ธ

A resin printer would give you the resolution you're looking for. Filling the hole would be fairly straightforward in 3d modeling software like Fusion or Blender. I think your best path, however, is to find a jeweler that has a wax printer and have them do a lost wax casting for you. Far easier all-in.
