Based on Google security blog, it's highly advised to turn off or disable 2G network on your mobile devices! The reason is due to lack of some crucial security measures in 2G networks. Interestingly, Samsung phones still don't have the feature to disable 2G without disabling 4G or LTE which is really weird! But it's expected by Samsung to update this feature soon similarly to other android devices in market.
