Took a 20 minute Uber today, cost me $19.89. Driver took home a little over $5. 

Uber's take is 75% - that seems surprisingly high. I would have expected a split closer to 50-50.

That's freaking disgusting. I honestly hate these gigified jobs: Glovo, Just Eat, Uber Eats. Their "workers" are left scrambling over jobs like a pack of dogs after a fallen scrap. Many of these companies don't fully insure or employ their staff, so they have to become self-employed to cover their operational costs and are left with very little. They sell the idea as a side hustle for students, but this is hardly the case, and it's mainly people in hard-up, desperate conditions doing these lackey-type jobs.
