Can Farcaster even be bought? Anyone can run a hub and the code is open source. I suppose since the protocol is controlled by one company rather than a community process or DAO someone could take control of it if they really wanted, but… why bother? Everyone would leave. Developers would get rugged and bail. What’s the value then?

I get that the company can be sold (and almost certainly will be—how else can the founders be rewarded?), I’m just not sure what the effect on the network would be. Is it really “sufficiently decentralized”? I keep meaning to research this but always have something more pressing to do! I’ll get to it eventually.

Farcaster technology and infra can absolutely be /sold/ -- Merkle isn't run by idealists. They're business people and this is their business.
