Get followed, otherwise engaged by well connected accounts.

Artists and photographers have trouble ranking because they don't converse (reply). They share media to root feed only, get nowhere, then give up.

Participate meaningfully in other people's conversations... for awhile... first. Avoid personal promotion.

This is something I have noticed about some artists, too. They post, they like replies and say “thank you” or whatever—but many don’t just join in a conversation. Maybe I’m just super-chatty, but I like to reply with meaningful comments, if I have any. It’s what makes this place better than the other one.

It's true. But this new ranking system makes sense to me because genuine conversations are key. I sometimes run around and "thank you" people, but if there is more to the answer, I feel it's important to share my thoughts.
