The origin of domestic cats It is believed that they come from ancient Egypt, approximately 4000 years ago before Christ. However, some claim that their wild ancestors, African desert cats, were the first to approach humans and relate to them. This approach was due to the large number of rodents that proliferated in the barns. Humans, seeing the great ability they had to hunt rodents, decided to domesticate them and live with them.
