Anyone watching Tokyo vice? What the heck are we ultrasounding here, transverse across a rib? Cmon.

I would guess the top of the liver or the lower lung?  When we percuss we start a bit higher than that to find the liver margin.  But with the lack of gel being used I would say it’s Hollywood!

For a FAST or dedicated liver US, we go below the inferior rib margin longitudinally. You see the lower lung from that view without having to deal with rib shadowing, and it’s the wrong probe orientation
