I think of a channel as something inbetween a read-only announcement page and a curated discussion from highly engaged community members. It's not meant to be as busy as a Telegram chat - but also not meant to be *only* major announcements. They should let you find key posts, key contributors and key convos.

telegram announcement channels have a pretty good ux for this announcement post -> discussion chat for each announcement post
