Karl Benz was a German designer and engineer who was born in 1844. He was the son of Josephine Vaillant and a locomotive driver named Johann Georg Benz and was born some time before their marriage. When he was only two years old, he lost his father and his mother changed his name to Karl Friedrich Benz
