this one is super interesting to unpack will decentralized social protocols (FC, lens, bluesky, mastodon, etc) eventually interoperate? If so, will this be driven first at the client layer, or at the protocol layer? what does history tell us about the possibilities here?

Super good question. Typically protocols have attempted a winner take all model. Web2 clients try to bridge in the case of “weaker” protocols that have multi tenancy: mobility and messaging come to mind. With social….what would be the goal and user need? I suspect these network states lean nativist

Yeah I think this could be right and I should have included this Third option is that they don’t, really, and that a leading mega protocol emerges. with perhaps some bolt on interoperability at the edges
